Fingerless Mitts

Autumn calls for just a little bit of warmth while you’re picking apples, raking leaves, and comparing FOs at Rhinebeck. These mitts are designed for just that, with paired falling leaves growing out of a simple bittersweet vine into an elegant thumb gusset, and a matching cable tracing the edge of the hand for balance. You can start these on Friday evening and have them done in time to wear to work on Monday morning.

You can knit this in any fingering weight yarn. The samples were knit in Knit Picks Gloss Fingering in Pumpkin (solid) and Pagewood Farm Chugiak Hand Dyed Sock Yarn in Fabulous Fall (variegated), and each used approx. 220 yards. If you want to make your mitts longer or wider, you should probably buy extra yarn.

This pattern is recommended for advanced beginners. You should be comfortable with knitting in the round, cables, using charts, and basic lace – or be looking for a project to learn them on!

" data-url="https://payhip.com/b/juWY">

                    <li id="crp-light-gallery-item-6" data-src="http://www.ahtilden.net/knit/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/DSC_6631_edit-scaled.jpg" data-sub-html="

Holly & Ivy Scarf and Wrap

The Holly & Ivy Scarf & Wrap is just the thing to chase away the cold drafts of December while you’re making merry – or to give to someone you love to share the merriment! Knit in Malabrigo Worsted (or any worsted weight yarn) in a color that echoes the greens of holly and ivy, the pattern becomes an indulgent wrap for parties or unwrapping gifts. Use Holiday Yarns’ Sock Flock (or any sock weight yarn) and the design becomes a scarf perfect for shopping expeditions and caroling. Make one for yourself, or make both and share one with a friend.

This pattern includes instructions for both the scarf and wrap versions -- two patterns in one!

You should be comfortable with lace knitting and reading charts, or looking for a pattern to learn on. The holly berries are formed with French Knots, so you will need some scraps of red yarn in a matching weight to form your holly berries -- or get creative!

"
